@Shirin – I’ve been meaning to give Surya chickpeas for awhile now and a garlicky hummus sounds like a perfect intro…and a great snack to boot for her mommy and daddy. hope your new little baby is doing well!

You are right; exoticness is all relative; in Panama, mangoes fell with regularity in the back yard. There’s nothing exotic about a fruit you can pick up from your own yard. Plus, mangoes are an awesome baby food.
Surya is so lucky to be raised by such a healthy, creative cook for a mom. I’ve learned with my own little one that babies do not have to be limited to “baby” food. One of Cyrus’ first “real” foods was hummus, full of garlic and oniony goodness. He loved it. Can’t wait to make a mango lassi…it’s my hubby’s favorite!
